Computer and Application Requirements
A. Your computer should be running one of the following Operating Systems:
Windows 2000, XP (x32 & x64 Bit), and Vista (x32 & x64 Bit). Please note: There are many variations within each of this systems, so this product may not be 100% compatible to your environment. If you have any questions, please call our support line at 707-857-1724.
B. The screen resolution on your monitor should be at least 1024x768. Otherwise the application widows will not fit onto your screen. To check your monitor, bring up the Display Screen window (normally, right click on a free spot on the screen and choose Properties). Click on the Settings tab. The window should look similar to the following, and the screen resolution is near the bottom right of the screen called "Screen area". If your monitor is not at least 1024x768, try moving the placement arrow to the right (towards "More") until it changes to 1024x768. Then click on "Apply" and follow your Operating System's instructions. If after this the text is too small, Click on the "Advanced" button and increase the font size.
C. You should have a printer that can print in color and that the paper loads from the top. The reason is that some reports print on 8.5" x 11, some on half sheets (8.5" x 5.5"), 4" x 6" Postcards, #9 or #10 envelopes, etc. By having a top loading printer, it is easier to load the different paper stock quickly. Epson printers do a very fine job. Front loading printers like HPs are very awkward. Some printers like the Lexmark, print the half sheets on the end of the page, and defeats the purpose of using the sheets.
D. You need a modem that allows you to send faxes.
E. You need at least a 65K modem (the same one as above), or DSL, or Cable, or other connection to the internet to send emails, send confirmations, update the availability chart, and take online reservations and gift certificates. This application assumes that your computer has an internet browser and an email system already installed that you have currently setup and are using for your normal daily use.
F. It is highly recommended that you make backups of your Reservation System. I know you've heard this a thousand times before, but you just don't want to lose all your information by not being able to restore the system to a known date. Make sure that no one is using the Reservation System, or most any other application for that matter, when you start your backup system. By not ending out of applications, the backup may miss changes to data which are being held in memory, and can further corrupt your system when you need to restore files from a backup.
